Painting FAQs

How much does a painter cost in France?
Interior work is often €35–€65 per hour or quoted €/m². Façade ravalement costs more due to scaffolding. Compare devis on milles.
Do painters need Qualibat?
Not legally, but Qualibat signals verified skill for copropriété ravalement and large chantiers.
RGE painter — why does it matter?
RGE status is required when painting follows MaPrimeRénov' insulation work. Ask for the RGE number on the devis.
Can you paint over wallpaper?
Only thin paper. Vinyl or textile wallpaper should be stripped first.
How long until the room is usable?
Acrylic paint: 4–6 hours touch-dry, 48 hours full cure. Plan état des lieux accordingly.
Who supplies the paint?
Either party — about half of customers buy paint themselves. Clarify on the devis.
